Symrise – always inspiring more… Your role We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Technical Director to lead our Technical Team within our business unit Health, dedicated to growing our business in dietary supplements and functional food and beverages.
The Director will play a pivotal role in shaping our product development strategy, fostering a high-performing team of health active ingredient specialists and flavorists, and delivering innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
• Strategic Leadership.
Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for product development, innovation and activation that aligns with the business unit's objectives and growth targets.
• Team Leadership.
Lead and mentor a cross-functional team, including a Scientific Activation Manager, a Regulatory Expert, and a Flavorist, fostering their expertise and capabilities to drive business growth.
Collaborate with Global Talent structures for flavorists and other technical experts to develop their careers.
• Product Development: Own the pipeline of new product developments, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality ingredients and flavors, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
• Resource Allocation: Allocate resources for proactive and reactive customer-specific projects, ensuring a balanced approach to address customer needs and new product development needs.
• KPI Management: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish measurable targets for the Technical Team.
Regularly monitor and report on the team's performance against these KPIs.
• Market Research: Stay abreast of market trends, customer needs, and emerging technologies in dietary supplements and functional food and beverages to inform product development and innovation efforts.
• Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with the Regulatory Expert to ensure all products and ingredients meet applicable regulatory requirements and standards.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, and other relevant departments to ensure a cohesive approach to product development and customer satisfaction.
About you Knowledge and Experience Requirements: • A relevant advanced degree (e.
g.
, PhD or Master's) in nutrition, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a related field is mandatory.
• Proven experience (10+ years) in product development, research, or technical leadership roles within the dietary supplements or food and beverage industry.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in the dietary supplements and food industries.
• Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and delivering innovative product solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of ingredient and flavor development processes and technologies.
• Track record of strategic planning, budget management, and resource allocation.
Skills & Abilities: • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and nurture talent.
• Strategic thinker with the capacity to create and implement effective product development strategies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
• Proficiency in designing, conducting, and analyzing clinical studies or trials.
Knowledge of clinical research methodology and the ability to interpret and apply study results.
• Strong data analysis skills, including statistical analysis and data interpretation, to evaluate scientific evidence critically.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal presentation skills to convey complex scientific concepts in a clear and understandable manner to various stakeholders, including non-scientific teams and clients.
• Project management expertise, including resource allocation, timeline management, and risk assessment.
• Adaptable and forward-thinking, with a passion for staying current with industry trends and innovations.
