Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner of Forensic Operations & Investigations, provides strategic counsel to the key agency leadership in support of creating and maintaining cross-departmental relationships to enable leadership success.
Typical tasks include but are not limited to the following: - Provide direct support and advisement to the Deputy Commissioner on matters of division management and initiative implementation with regards to all aspects of the division - Build and develop relationships with division leadership for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness - Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including other City and State agencies, religious organizations, community organizations, donor organizations, amongst others - Schedule and facilitate internal and external meetings - Provide administrative support/problem solving - Oversee strategic initiatives/projects, from development through successful execution - Advise on hiring key personnel in addition to their onboarding and the tracking of personnel matters - Draft, distribute and respond to internal and external communications - Participate in grant program and division budget/financial oversight, including capital new needs requests - Improve current processes and optimize organizational procedures for efficiency and productivity - Provide Chief of Staff, Public Information Officer, and other senior leadership situational updates on high profile cases and incidents - Collect, organize, and distribute data and reports regarding the division’s performance, to include regular reporting, PMMR, and MMR - Draft memos, background documents, presentation materials, reports, and other documents - Develop and implement training to improve professional development of staff - Assess productivity of units within the division through written and oral reports from subordinates, regular staff meetings and direct observation.
Ensures division staff are informed of Agency policies - Represent the Deputy Commissioner in his absence - Visit borough offices and OCME locations to ensure locations are operating as expected - Provide 24/7/365 availability to respond to urgent matters of the division and agency, including participation in the agency’s MESORT and disaster response schedule - Supervise staff as appropriate - Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications 1.
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, with specialization in criminalistics, forensic science, chemistry, biology, physics, molecular genetics, genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, entomology, anthropology, ecology or a closely related scientific or engineering field.
Preferred Skills Successful candidates should possess the following: 1.
Preferred degree specialization or experience in the forensic sciences, such as forensic anthropology, medicolegal investigations, certified pathology assistant, or related field.
2.
Strong computer skills including Office 365 suite applications 3.
Must be highly organized and possess excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
