Position Details:
Title: Special Education Teacher
Location: New York, NY
Duration: Permanent Position
Onsite/Virtual: Onsite
Position Type: Full Time
Working Hours: 40 hours weekly, from Monday to Friday
Student Age Group: Elementary, Middle and High
Case Load: 8-15 kids
Responsibilities:
Create and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
Provide instruction in various subjects, adapting teaching methods to accommodate students' abilities and learning styles.
Regularly assess students' progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
Foster an inclusive classroom environment where students with disabilities are supportively integrated.
Work closely with other professionals, therapists, and support staff to coordinate services.
Maintain open and regular communication with students' families to provide updates on progress.
Implement positive behavior support strategies to handle challenging behaviors.
Stay current with the latest developments in special education and take part in professional development opportunities.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing special education services.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
New York State teaching certification in Special Education.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in an educational setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of IEP development and special education best practices.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
