JOB SUMMARY
The College Access Director will oversee every facet of the college search and admissions process, offering expert guidance to students.
This includes assisting students in preparing their college applications and exploring financial aid opportunities.
The College Access Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journeys of our youth, ensuring they have the support and resources needed for successful college admissions and a bright future ahead.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct workshops to educate students and parents on college-related topics, admissions procedures, and testing, providing guidance and support throughout the process caseload of 25 students
Conduct individual and group meetings with juniors, seniors, and younger students (8th and 10th grade) to discuss college options and curricular decisions 20-30.
Facilitate meetings with college admissions representatives and act as a liaison with colleges.
Write an official recommendation for each senior.
Create a resource guide to maintain and share information on colleges, college guides, scholarships, financial aid, and paying for college to participants and community through one-on-one and community information sessions.
Provide academic and personal counseling and meetings related to the college application process.
Provide Information on financial aid and planning assistance with FASFA, scholarships applications.
AS well as applications to SEEK, EOP, HEOP and college discovery programs.
Monitor admission decisions and statistics, reporting findings to respective supervisors.
Assist participants in developing post-secondary education action plans.
Maintain membership in professional organizations: the College Board, the National Association of College Admission Counselors, etc.
Maintain and disseminate information about standardized tests such as SAT, ACT, and TOEFL, helping to administer AP and PSAT exams.
KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Identify key stakeholders for a yearly college Fair at both Center based programs
1-week college trip for High school, Out of School- Out of work Teens/ YA
3-day College Fair for Middle School Youth
Attend Staff Development Day
Able to develop, refine and enhance programmatic systems to meet/exceed goals
Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external partners
A developing knowledge of career pathways and partnership development in tech
STATEMENT OF SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES
Associates degree required, bachelor's degree preferred.
At least 2 year’s experience working with high school & college age youth in an urban setting.
Experience in college admissions or high school college counseling; teaching and computer skills are a plus.
Experience working with students on achieving positive outcomes for success.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, including an understanding of the goals, objectives, and mission of an independent college preparatory school.
Ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and demanding student and parent population
Knowledge of colleges, their academic programs, and admission and financial policies and procedures.
