Job Description & Responsibilities:
Persistent Systems is seeking an Engineering Chief of Staff to join our team and be based in our NYC headquarters.
The Engineering Chief of Staff will provide the Senior Vice President of Engineering support to oversee our software, product development, RF, digital signal processing, mechanical, production, and program engineering teams.
This individual will play a critical role in the development and sustainment of our industry-leading Wave Relay® products.
This is a dynamic opportunity that will report directly to our Senior Vice President of Engineering.
This position provides the opportunity to develop technology that enables our customers to solve their most difficult networking problems.
Position Responsibilities
Act as a strategic advisor to the Senior Vice President of Engineering to support the management of developing and implementing a wide range of low-level embedded software (including device driver, Linux kernel modules, network stack development, porting existing software to new embedded platforms, and other low-level programming activities), hardware development, as well as the development of application software running on the Wave Relay® network
Interface with the Senior Vice President of Engineering to assign tasks to engineering teams, set long and short-term project goals, ensure that projects stay within time and budgetary restraints, and compiling reports for the executive leadership team
Assist the Senior Vice President of Engineering in leading, mentoring, and developing cohesive teams and shared oversight with multiple concurrent projects
Architect communication vehicles for recurring and cross functional development efforts
Develop the standard for meeting and reporting cadences within the engineering teams for ongoing development efforts
Provide clear documentation and communication of results to a diverse audience of stakeholders, other tech and non-tech teams, product owners, and company leadership
Continuously learn about new methods and developments affecting the organization and working on improving best practices

Job Qualifications & Experience :
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
10+ years of experience in product management, engineering, software development or related
A thorough understanding of financial/business analysis, competitive analysis, government contracts, technology/business planning
5+ years of experience with managing embedded software development cycles that require Linux driver (e.
g.
, wireless, network stack), Linux kernel, and kernel module development
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of software architecture and implementation for embedded systems
Must possess exceptional organizational and time management skills with an obsessive attention to detail
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusion to difficult engineering problems
Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Well-organized with strong attention to details
Ability to maintain team cohesiveness when managing multiple project goals with overlapping deadlines
Demonstrated ability for decision making in uncertain environments
Must have a US Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in either Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
Advanced knowledge of Cisco router/switch configuration/management
Knowledge of standard wireless networking protocols (802.
11, GSM, LTE)
Knowledge of MANET / mesh / wireless ad hoc and wired networking
Possess an active Secret US Security Clearance
The base pay for this role can vary from $220,000 to $250,000 a year based on individual qualifications.
Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
