Harlem Children’s Zone, Inc (HCZ) is a multi-site, multi-program community organization that provides a unique and comprehensive interlocking network of education, social and health services to more than 22,500 children and adults in Central Harlem.
Many of the children HCZ works with go to public schools and attend its engaging after-school programs.
Whether in its Promise Academy charter schools or public-school afterschool program, HCZ has the same high standards and expectations for all its children—ensuring that all of them are on track to attend college and successfully graduate.
HCZ’s overarching goal is to create a "tipping point" in the neighborhood so that children are surrounded by an enriching environment of college-oriented peers and supportive adults.
Nationally and internationally recognized as a thought leader with a generation of proof of its early and progressive intervention programs, HCZ has been lauded by The New York Times as “one of the most ambitious social-policy experiments of our time.
” We are currently seeking a Director within the Wealth Builds team.
This role will report to the Managing Director of Wealth Builds and work closely with senior leaders across the organization.
He or she will engage in a broad range of critical activities aimed at financing HCZ scholars’ college education experiences through increased college savings and scholarships, developing savings habits in children and parents, and promoting college-bound identity.
This role interacts with a variety of teams across HCZ, constituents from the community, and external partners, and must be able to collaborate well and communicate effectively.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university Who you are At least four years of relevant professional experience, particularly in advancing economic mobility and equitable education Prior experience managing individuals or teams Excellent project management with attention to detail, and outstanding written and verbal communication Ability to build and manage relationships with various stakeholders Highly motivated to take initiative, manage competing priorities, work independently, and respond to feedback Strong understanding of historical and contemporary racial equity issues that impact economic mobility Advanced proficiency utilizing Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Passion for and commitment to the mission of the Harlem Children’s Zone What you'll do Take a leading role in shaping, executing, and overseeing an initiative focused on college savings, scholarships, and loan forgiveness Oversee the application, review, and disbursement processes annually for HCZ scholarships and reporting/stewardship needs from students receiving scholarships Secure and manage key partnerships, including financial and technology partners Facilitate meetings and collect updates from key stakeholders; prepare internal and external reports Design strategy for family outreach and engagement in collaboration with senior leaders, and oversee the development of subsequent communications, outreach toolkits, marketing materials, and program materials Manage and track spend and disbursement for scholarships and college savings accounts; create plans for data collection and develop participant information sharing rules and procedures Collaborate with account management platform to set up account administration and participant portal Stay versed in the changing landscape of higher education affordability that may impact the design and management of college savings accounts and college financing Collaborate effectively across departments and teams to achieve objectives and key results Hire, train, and manage staff to implement the goals of the initiative Perform other duties as required Schedule Monday-Friday Benefits As a member of the Harlem Children's Zone team, you will join a supportive and inclusive community dedicated to helping children, families — and our staff — thrive.

) The salary range for this position is $130,000 per year.
