The Senior Director of Indirect Procurement will play a crucial role in managing all indirect procurement activities for Bausch + Lomb (B+L).
This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing indirect procurement strategies, processes, and best practices in alignment with business needs to optimize cost efficiency, supplier relationships, and overall operational effectiveness across indirect procurement categories (e.
g.
, marketing, IT, professional services, clinical).
Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Lead, advise, and develop a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth while driving the use of standardized tools, best practices, and knowledge sharing across categories.
Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive indirect procurement strategy aligned with B+L's strategic plan, financial, and operational objectives.
Business Unit Partnership: Become a peer, counselor, and partner to BUs to promote procurement strategies, challenge objectives while being sensitive to needs, and ensure internal customer satisfaction and alignment.
Category Strategy: Develop and drive execution of category strategies to maximize value and performance and ensure alignment of category strategies to Procurement Strategy.
Strategic sourcing: Implement strategic sourcing methodologies to identify cost-effective suppliers and sources, ensuring the best value for the company.
Proactively build relationships with vendors that ensure stability in B+L's supply network and establish strategic relationships with key suppliers who are aligned with business goals.
Budget Management: Collaborate with the CFO and team of category managers to establish and manage the procurement budget, track expenses, and report on cost savings.
Cost Optimization: Drive spend reduction initiatives and continuous improvement in procurement processes while maintaining quality standards.
Diversity & Sustainability Initiatives: Promote diverse suppliers and environmentally responsible procurement practices.
Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field required.
MBA preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in strategic sourcing, indirect procurement, and/or supply chain management in pharmaceutical, medical device, or healthcare industries.
Demonstrated experience in negotiating complex service agreements and sourcing for multiple indirect categories.
Proven experience in RFI/RFP/RFQ development, evaluation, negotiations, execution, and contract management.
Excellent negotiation, contract management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Applied experience in the understanding of legal issues, contractual principles, and negotiation techniques used in the development of complex contractual agreements.
Exceptional leadership and team management abilities as a strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
Knowledge of procurement software and systems; must be familiar with supply base performance metrics and key performance indicators.
