Symrise – always inspiring more… About the Role Position Summary The Business Development Director will be the sales arm for Beauty Activations.
This role is the driving force in developing the total business directly and via others, against an agreed strategy.
They will coordinate, manage, prioritize, and lead the local projects in agreement with the head of the product development team for Beauty Activations.
This person has commercial experience and can create business development strategies to engage with new customers requiring PD support.
They will work with legal to support the creation of business development agreements and will take a lead role in establishing efficient and transparent work procedures and work environment.
Please note: This is an individual contributor role, not a people manager role.
Duties and Responsibilities Develop account strategies aligned to an in-depth understanding of the customers’ decision making process, business strategies and brand focus and with the internal capabilities of Symrise.
Is responsible for the achievement of the Beauty Activations (PD Initiative) sales and profitability targets.
Highly customer facing and actively seeks, reviews and coordinates the receipt of all PD briefs from the customer.
Also responsible for supporting the project management process, ensuring work streams are coordinated effectively against clear timelines, milestones and budgets with clear business ownership.
Is responsible to identify new significant business opportunities and develop clear action plans with milestones.
Will also generate and vet new leads by connecting with customers through various lead channels.
Follow up with customers according to their innovation cadence to actively solicit briefs.
Work with our current sales team to set up meetings with existing customers that could use BA support.
Responsible for assisting with annual budgets / quarterly forecasts and is responsible for delivering the plans within budget.
Has exceptional commercial business development experience in the Beauty Industry to aid in liaising with 3rd party manufacturers to provide cost of ingredients and advising on supply chain.
Maintain close contact with Sales, Regional Technical teams and Regulatory.
About You Knowledge and Experience Requirements Bachelor degree in related science or higher.
Minimum 8 years Commercial Consumer Products Development experience and 10 years Industrial Ingredient Sales / Business Management Experience.
Strong commercial experience in Personal Care.
Skills and Abilities Entrepreneurial spirit and ownership.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
Proficient computer skills (ie.
MS Office, etc.
).
Occupational Qualifier: Must be willing and able to travel regionally by land and by air.
